The choice of treatment for different types of acne, the modes of action of individual agents should be considered.
Dermatologists usually employ these agents in different combinations and in combination with oral antibiotics, if necessary.
Benzoyl peroxide
Potent antibacterial agents, benzoyl peroxide preparations Improvement in both inflammatory and non inflammatory lesions. They dry and peel the skin, and they help to clear blocked follicles. Benzoyl peroxide can be used alone be to treat mild acne, but also for more serious cases, it should be used in conjunction with topical retinoid. Benzoyl peroxide is a component of many brand names over-the-counter products such as Clearasil and Vilantae 5 and 10 as well as less expensive generic products.
These products are both water-and alcohol-containing vehicles, some are soaps, medical records, and washed. The soaps and washes may not be as effective as the lotions, creams, gels, or wash the skin is not so easy.
Benefits of benzoyl peroxide based products:
– Available over the counter.
– No reported bacterial resistance.
– Available in many formulations, including cream and liquid. (Water-based gels are less irritating than alcohol-based preparations.)
Disadvantages of benzoyl peroxide based products:
– Sometimes irritating (causes stinging, redness)
– Contact sensitivity may occur occasionally.
– May bleach clothing and bed linen.
Hydroxy acids containing glycolic acid
Also known as fruit acids – hydroxy acids (AHA), which contain glycolic acid has become very popular. Although not comedolytic, they can help some patients with mild acne, especially when used in combination with topical retinoid. AHAs loosen the binding of dead skin cells and speed up exfoliation. They also appear to smooth and repair photo aged skin. Over-the-counter products contain low concentrations of AHA. Peels and are used by doctors and dispensed products for the treatment of wrinkles and pigmentation stronger and more effective peeling agent.
Retinols
Although retinols were originally placed on the market to fight aging skin, they are being touted for use in the treatment of acne. Their efficacy in acne is not scientifically tested.
Ingredients Empire Over-The-Counter Products

How do I use Murad Acne COMPLEXS?
I know it sounds stupid, but the instructions were very ambiguous and not specific .. Can someone please clear that this for me? This is how I see it .. Step 1: Use Clarification detergent wash, but two: Use dry Exfoliating Acne Gel, let .. then go 3: Use the lotion. 4: Here is where I am confused, I give the place of treatment before or after the lotion
1st How do I use Murad Acne Complex ®? In the morning: • Wipe dry with clarifying cleanser and pat your face. • Do use a dime-size amount of the Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel (Once per day for the first two weeks). • Apply Skin Perfecting Lotion. • Apply a small amount of the Acne Spot Treatment directly to each individual spots. (This treatment is only on site and should not be used on the entire face.) Evening: • Wipe dry with clarifying cleanser and pat your face. • Apply using a dime-size amount of the Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel (once per day for the first two weeks). • Apply Skin Perfecting Lotion. • Apply a small amount of the Acne Spot Treatment directly to any individual blemishes. (This is a place of treatment and may not be used on the entire face.)
